Lindback stands tall: Preds down Ducks 3-1…

Ken Denardo/HF

Nashville backup Goaltender Anders Lindback made 30 saves & was the catalyst for the Predators to be able to jump ahead of Detroit for 4th place in the Western Conference Standings.

The Preds were outplayed dramatically over the 1st 10 minutes of the game even giving up a shorthanded goal on a 2-1 that developed after Ryan Suter was caught pinching down in the corner & the puck was turned over. This was the only shot Lindback had no chance to stop as Devante Smith-Pelly finished off the odd man rush for his 5th goal on the season giving the Ducks a 1-0 lead. This game continued to play out much of the same way until the end of the 2nd period with the teams trading scoring chances & Lindback making some solid saves.

The 3rd period started fast with a great pass from the blue line by David Legwand leading Patric Hornqvist down the slot for his team leading 23rd goal at 1:19 tying the game 1-1. With just under 11 minutes remaining in the 3rd period, Preds F Martin Erat beat out an icing call & carried the puck behind the net finding D Ryan Suter, who fired a wrist shot off the mask of Ducks G Jonas Hiller & in the scrum following the puck was pushed in by F Mike Fisher who was parked in the crease making the score 2-1.

Lindback would then take over & make some outstanding saves down the stretch & Legwand potted the empty netter to seal the deal & salvage the road trip with a positive feeling for the plane ride home.

The Great Radu:
Late last night/early this morning it was reported that Alexander Radulov has been given a release from KHL team Ufa Salavat Yulayev & is reported to be boarding a plane sometime today for Nashville. He could join the team as soon as Tues for practice & since he is already in game shape, could make his NHL return this Thurs in Pittsburgh before making home return on Sat Vs Winnipeg.

Injury update:
F Paul Gaustad has missed the last 2 games after suffering an upper body injury. D Roman Josi missed the entire 4 game road trip, but could return to lineup on Tues. F Colin Wilson missed the last 2 games with a mild groin strain.
