Nash to Nashvillle?
The New York Rangers are currently on life support in the Stanley Cup Finals and with many Rangers fans tasting blood. The blood of a player who did not live up to expectations when it mattered in 2012-2013 or 2013-2014. Rick Nash has quickly met the tough side of being a NHL hockey player in a market like New York City. If the Rangers lose tonight 4 games to 1, could both parties want to go in a different direction this summer?
If the Rangers organization has lost it’s cool like the fans, it’s possible. Keep in mind the Rangers fired a coach last year after making it to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
You also have to wonder if Nash has had his taste of the hustle and big city lights of a massive hockey market. Could he be more open to adjusting his list of teams and could Nashville be a new option?
It’s rumored that Poile wanted Nash at the trade deadline back in the 2011-2012 season but couldn’t get Nash in Nashville. Who knows if Nashville was even an option or if Poile simply wasn’t willing to pay the piper. Would Poile be open to a 2nd chance and would Nash be open to Nashville with the coaching and other changes on the horizon?
Nash would come a lot cheaper than he did the first time around and would instantly bring size, skill, and swagger to the first line in Nashville. Poile could get Nash cheaper than ever and he may see Nash as a less expensive an better option to the hot name of the week “Spezza” .
Nash the mascot would be happy can we agree on that?
