Practice Update: Those boys are ready to bang…

Solid skate today at Bridgestone Arena for most of the roster. One player missing from practice was Gabriel Bourque, who is reported by sources to be suffering from a lower body injury. The speedy checking forward is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. The guys took to the ice in front of about 150 fans & started out on some warm up drills. Then came some brief instruction by Coach Trotz before breaking into another round of drills including a break away portion that had Pekka Rinne & Chris Mason making some great saves. Highlight of the session was a scrimmage between the Blue & White squads that featured more physical play than scoring. It was surprising, but good to see that the team is ramping things up fast & not afraid to get after it. Im not sure if it was when Craig Smith & Shea Weber collided that the abrasion was made to the Captains nose, but that pic alone shows how focused the team was for this 90 min practice. Columbus on Sat will provide a better opponent than an inter squad scrimmage, but if history tells us anything about this matchup, not by much. Opening night is reportedly sold out.
