Preds Quick Hits From The Crease 3-23-16

By @GreekGoalie35

While the Preds had a well-deserved night off, most of their division rivals were on the ice and made the most of it.

The Kings, fresh off their beating at Bridgestone, flew north and lost to a desperate Minnesota team 2-1. Devan Dubnyk had one of his better performances of the year stopping 38 of 39 shots. The Wild managed just 18 shots but were able to hand Jonathan Quick a second consecutive defeat. The last time LA was defeated in regulation in two straight games was mid-February. It also dropped the Kings’ impressive record on the second of back-to-backs to 9-2-1.

In San Jose, the Blues took a bite out of the Sharks, edging them 1-0 behind a 37-save shutout by Brian Elliott. After missing nearly a month due to injury, Elliott has stopped all 56 shots he’s faced. Rookie Robby Fabbri scored his 17th of the season, breaking a scoreless tie midway through the third.

Meanwhile in Chicago, Dallas torched the Blackhawks 6-2. Scott Darling, starting his fourth straight game for the injured Corey Crawford, surrendered 4 goals on 15 shots before being pulled for Michael Leighton. Former Predator Vern Fiddler potted two of those including a short-handed goal late in the first period. With the victory, Dallas officially clinched a playoff spot while Chicago remained four points ahead of Nashville for third place in the Central.

What to Watch For: tonight?… Nothing. There are no Western Conference games Wednesday. So my advice would be to take a night off to recharge your batteries, because you’ll be fully immersed in hockey for the next 10 weeks.
