Preds Quick Hits From The Crease 4-7-16
Fresh after eliminating the Avalanche from the playoffs, the Preds return to the ice to host Arizona in their final regular season home game.
Arizona has had the opportunity to play spoiler to the top teams in the Central this past week, but have gotten blitzed each time. Dallas, St Louis and Chicago each took them to the woodshed to the tune of 3 losses by a combined score of 15-5. Tonight also marks the third game in four nights for the desert dogs, so Nashville should be able to impose their will on a tired club going through the motions.
All signs point to Anthony Bitetto returning to the lineup tonight, leaving coach Laviolette with the decision to scratch either Petter Granberg or veteran Barret Jackman. With Salomaki as the only regular dinged up, Lavy still has to figure out who to piece together for his fourth line. Based on line combinations yesterday, it appeared as though Colton Sissons will take Nystrom’s spot. That still leaves youngster Austin Watson as a healthy scratch behind Cody Bass (for some reason).
What to Watch For: All the teams battling for division titles out west are in action. Chicago hosts the Blues, who are tied with Dallas for the Central Division lead. The Stars play host to the recently departed Avalanche. The biggest game of the night however belongs to California as the Ducks take on the Kings in the ‘freeway face-off’. They are each tied with 99 points and this game could very well decide who plays Nashville or San Jose in the first round. Consider that game as part of your training to stay up and watch the series that begins in a week.
