So what did we learn in game #1?

By Josh @Top6Grinder

The Preds opened up the season with a 3-2 win against former Predator David Legwand and the Ottawa Senators.

So what did we learn in game #1?

First and formost we learned that some of the old Predators who where in Smashville under Trotz are capable of bringing the puck into the offensive zone without the dump and chase.

James Neal shoots the puck A LOT Don’t, but he also hits. James Neal with one of the hardest hits of the night.

The defense is working out the kinks and could use some polish. I have no doubt it will be in form very soon. A lot of odd man rushes and a ton of time for the guys on the point to dial up good shots. It was game one so I am not concerned just an observation.

Filip Forsberg finished the game very strong. He gave a little look at why he made the Predators roster. FF finished the game a +2 with 2 assists with 15:11 of ice time. FF also made former Norris Trophy winner E. Karlsson have to relace his skates on an absolute superstar move to the net which ultimately led to a goal by Shea Weber.

The new bench reporter is a lot easier on the eyes than the grim reaper.

Stats of note:

James Neal-7 shots/3 hits.

Paul Gaustad-2A/+2/82% FO%

Filip Forsberg- 2A/+2/15:11 TIO

Predators shots on goal- 37 out shooting the Senators by 17 shots.

What did you guys see in game #1 of the 2014 season?
