The Summer Plans of David Poile…
With the Stanley Cup Finals over, Nashville Predators General Manager David Poile is well into his off season plan. There are a total of 15 Unrestricted & Restricted free agents for Poile to evaluate & decide if they are a part of the Preds future. The first part of the GM’s off season plans came to light when he informed the hockey world that the team would be parting ways with the enigma known as Alexander Radulov, who returned to the team for the playoff run this past season. In an unusual bit of business, Poile informed the media that Radulov was free to return to the KHL or his rights as an RFA will be traded to another NHL club (recently rumored to be the NY Rangers). The other story to come out, is that Poile traveled to Wisconsin to visit with UFA Ryan Suter at his home. There is no word on this time what was said in this meeting, but the talks were described as positive. With just over 2 weeks until free agency, you can bet Poile will be in constant contact with the highest coveted free agent defenseman in the league. There have been a handful of prospect signings so far, but none that will affect the roster at the NHL level. That leaves 13 other players that there has been no news about. We will keep tracking the moves & updating as they happen. One other thing to watch for is who the Preds will hire to be new Head Coach of primary development team AHL Milwaukee Admirals.
